St Teresa of Avila Altar
I was not brought up in a religious family.
I found my own way to connect to the sacred wonders of this world.
If there was one saint that I do align with it would be St Teresa of Avila.
Born in Spain in 1515, she faced the Spanish Inquisition, defied the limits placed on women and founded 17 new convents with fierce determination and sharp wit.
St. Teresa of Avila was a spiritual rebel who relished in her own ecstatic relationship with God.
I found her transformational spiritual guidebook “The Interior Castle” interpreted through Caroline Myss’s book “Entering The Castle”, over 20 years ago.
It has continued to be a spiritual guide for me throughout much of my adult life.
This artwork altar is hand stitched from pre-loved fabrics, beads, Swarovski crystals, and bronze and silver charms.
It is tiny enough to put in your pocket.
